On Monday, November 1st I began having contractions at work.... at the time I wasn't quite sure that they were contractions, but I knew I was feeling SOMETHING. Called the dr. that afternoon and they told me to start timing them. If they were 10 minutes apart, come in to the hospital. So I came home, took Faith to her friends house, cooked dinner and ate with EJ. After dinner, I laid on the couch and we began watching tv. I had several contractions and we began timing them- it was apparent that we needed to go to the hospital when they were between 8-11 minutes apart. Sure enough, I hadn't packed my bag.... (I was scheduled for that Friday so in my mind I had time....)
Went upstairs and through my stuff in a bag, grabbed the baby bag and we were off to Edward Hospital. Arrived at the hospital about 8 pm and was monitored. Got some IV fluids ordered by the doctor- she was hoping that I was dehydrated and the fluids would stop my contractions. Then she'd just send me home. Well, lo and behold, contractions got stronger and I was scheduled for my csection to begin just after midnight!!!
That part of the nite went SO slow- it seemed like we were waiting for days instead of just an hour or two until I was taken back to the OR.
Blake Edmund Buhot was born at 1:18 am on November 2nd, 2010. He was 19 1/2 inches and 9 pounds and 4 ounces. We all knew I'd have a good size baby, but I was shocked when he was over 9 pounds!!
We stayed in the hospital until Friday morning. Ironic enough, we were driving home from the hospital at the exact time we would have been driving TO the hospital for the scheduled csection. My little guy just couldn't wait to meet me- just like I couldn't wait to meet him!
